Sciton BBL Photorejuvenation

BBL, or broadband light, photorejuvenation, is an effective realm of treatment for several types of skin conditions, particularly acne. The Sciton system Dr. Yarish’s office uses is also designed to produce various wavelengths of light, with the use of different adapters, to treat other conditions including sun damage, age or dark spots, rosacea, redness, flushing, wrinkling and crepeing.

Clinical studies using BBL have had comparable results to prescription antibiotics, and the procedure offers a non-invasive, non-chemical option where a broad spectrum of light is applied to the skin. In the case of acne, the light kills the bacteria present in deep acne, by creating oxygen release within the skin. The treatment also includes a collagen replenishment application, which helps repair damage from acne. It’s a non-invasive way to improve the look of your skin.

When To Consider It

BBL photorejuvenation is a good choice for serious acne, and also for signs of aging and sun damage that include age spots, freckles, redness, sun spots, wrinkles, and dark spots. It also can help to tighten up crepey skin from sun damage, such as often occurs on the neck or chest. Houston and Lake Jackson patients with an active lifestyle may find BBL a quick, easy and painless fix for skin problems resulting from sun and exposure damage. The photorejuvenation procedure also can be adapted to reduce unwanted facial or body hair.

What To Expect

One of the notable benefits of BBL is that the BBL system can be changed to treat various conditions with varying wavelengths of light in one session, such as acne and sun damage. The process heats the upper layers of skin, stimulating skin cells to produce new collagen, and shrinks the tiny blood vessels in the targeted area. These tiny vessels are responsible for pigmented lesions and spots in the skin, which fade and disappear after treatment. Houston and Lake Jackson patients report no pain, but a slightly uncomfortable flash of light during the procedure.

BBL can be performed in our Houston or Lake Jackson offices, and can be used on any area of the body. Most common are the neck, face, hands, chest and shoulders.

What Happens Afterward

The BBL treatment restores a younger, fresher look, as well as natural color and smoother skin. There is minimal to no downtime, and patients can return to work or activity right away. There’s no unsightly after effects and no scarring. Dr. Yarish and his staff will determine the right number of treatments and at what interval according to a personalized treatment plan, but it’s common to plan for two to four treatments several weeks apart for the best results.

Ematrix Laser Skin Resurfacing

With age, people’s skin naturally begins to accumulate damage over time. Acne scars can form, the skin can lose some of its tightness and tone, and wrinkles and fine lines may begin to develop. If you’re interested in correcting these signs of aging and bringing back a youthful glow to your skin, you may want to consider undergoing a non-invasive eMatrix treatment. This device provides Houston and Lake Jackson patients with high-quality skin rejuvenation that involves minimal downtime and discomfort.

Located in Houston, Texas, ReNew You MD is proud to provide patients with a wide range of effective cosmetic services performed by skilled technicians. If you’d like more information about our practice or are interested in scheduling a consultation appointment, contact us today.

What is the eMatrix?

The eMatrix is a comprehensive skin rejuvenation treatment that uses the power of laser energy to correct a wide range of aesthetic concerns, including acne scars, wrinkles, and uneven texture and tone. This system offers patients access to two effective treatments, Sublative and Sublime, that can be used to customize treatment to meet each patient’s aesthetic goals.

Sublative eMatrix treatments use fractional resurfacing to stimulate the skin’s healing process without extensive healing time or discomfort. Because radiofrequency energy is delivered to the skin in a series of small beams, rather than to the entire surface of the skin, a great deal of it is left unharmed. This helps speed up the healing process post-treatment.

This method can be used to improve the appearance of:

  • Acne scars
  • Moderate to severe wrinkles
  • Scars
  • Stretch marks
  • Uneven texture and tone

Sublime eMatrix treatments use bi-polar radiofrequency and light energy to heat deep dermal tissue, jumpstarting the skin’s healing process. This triggers the creation of additional collagen, one of the skin’s main structural proteins, and results in tighter, healthier, younger-looking skin.

This method can be used to treat:

  • Fine lines
  • Wrinkles
  • Loss of facial definition
  • Uneven texture and tone

What Can I Expect from an eMatrix Treatment?

Each eMatrix treatment typically takes between 20-30 minutes to complete and involves minimal downtime. While possible side effects of treatment include redness and swelling, these usually subside within a few days of treatment.

Laser Vein Treatments

Our Candela® laser system can treat spider veins, red or prominent veins, facial and leg veins, and rosacea, as well as pigmented lesions in various areas of the body. While common laser treatments aren’t designed for vein treatment, the Candela® laser uses a longer wavelength and has a design suitable for addressing spider and other problem veins all over the body. It’s safe for both men and women of all skin types and is operated by our skilled medical technicians at either our Houston or Lake Jackson locations. Contact us today to schedule a consultation!

When To Consider It

If prominent or unattractive veins are bothering you, especially on exposed areas like face or chest, it might be time to consider a vein treatment. Laser vein therapy, with its versatility, is particularly indicated when there are various factors involved in your skin condition, or if you have several issues you’d like to correct in your appearance. The Candela® laser is great at reducing facial and spider veins, leg veins, vascular lesions, and rosacea, but isn’t a top treatment for varicose veins. Doctors also favor it for addressing pigmented lesions that have veins involved, because it can treat both at once, healing the skin and veins underneath. The laser can also treat acne, scarring, stretch marks, and other skin irregularities.

What To Expect

During the laser treatment, intermittent light pulses are passed over the veins, shrinking them and reducing pigment and prominence. The light energy pulses through the tissue, leaving it undamaged, to reach the veins at the right depth to affect them. It damages the small abnormal veins and causes them to dissipate and fade away through natural body processes. Treatment depends on the size, number and location of the veins involved, but usually is a quick and painless process.

What Happens Afterward

Some redness and skin sensitivity after laser treatment is expected, but the problem veins should subside and fade over a period of months, as the damaged vessels disappear back into the tissue and are disposed of through natural cell repair processes in the body. There’s a low incidence of side effects of any kind with laser vein therapy.

To make sure Candela® laser treatment is what’s right for your unsightly spider or facial veins, consult with Dr. Yarish and his staff before scheduling a procedure, and they’ll help create a personal treatment plan to address your specific concerns.

Laser Hair Removal

Here at ReNew You MD Medical Spa, we use the Candela laser for laser hair removal, widely considered the gold standard in laser hair removal technology. It works on all skin and hair types and is designed with the goal of reducing unwanted hair safely and effectively. The Candela laser is quick and nearly painless, and doesn’t use any topical treatments or gels on your skin. Dr. Yarish and his staff can perform laser hair removal at either our Houston or Lake Jackson offices, and it is one of the most widely performed cosmetic procedures.

When To Consider It

Often, Houston and Lake Jackson patients pursue laser hair removal for personal reasons, finding excess body hair unsightly or embarrassing. Another reason can be for more lifestyle convenience, to cut down on use of other hair removal methods like shaving or waxing, which can be hard on the skin, not to mention tiring and time-consuming. Laser removal reduces hair growth, and over time, can permanently reduce the amount of hair on the body. This treatment can be used on any part of the body, including arms, legs, face, underarms and bikini lines.

What To Expect

Several treatments of laser hair removal are always needed. This is due to the way hair grows, in a three-phase cycle. The length of the cycle depends on the individual. The laser uses light energy to target the pigment of new growing hair within the hair follicles, damaging them and resulting in the hair falling out during the cycle. Since not all of your hair is in the same part of the cycle at the same time, usually up to 6 or 8 treatments are needed to catch all of the hair in its most susceptible growth phase.

Best results are typically seen on light skin with dark hair, as the pigment contrast makes the laser targeting most effective. However, dark skin or light hair also can be subject to laser hair removal, although it may take more treatments or different types of treatments. Our Candela laser is the safest, least-damaging option available for Houston and Lake Jackson patients. During the procedure, intermittent pulses of light energy are passed over the skin, hitting the hair follicles and damaging them so that any current hair falls out, while new hair does not regrow.

What Happens Afterward

Laser hair removal with the Candela laser can take up to an hour, depending on the size of the treatment area desired. There is typically no pain involved in the procedure, although Houston and Lake Jackson patients do report some redness and sensitivity on their skin afterward. A topical cream or sunscreen may be recommended by our skilled, professional staff to ease any effects. Regrowth of some hair is to be expected as dormant hair follicles cycle through their stages of growth. Over time, less body hair and smoother skin will be evident as more treatments take place and affect more of the desired areas.

If you have questions or concerns about any of the laser treatments, a personal consultation with Dr. Yarish and our Houston or Lake Jackson staff is always a good idea before scheduling a procedure.
