The Rhinoplasty Process At Yarish Plastic Surgery

Pre-Rhinoplasty Consultation

The first step in deciding whether to pursue surgery is to schedule a consultation with a surgeon in order to share your medical history, communicate your reasons for wishing to have a nose job, learn in-depth information about the procedure and to discover the possibilities rhinoplasty may offer you. Here at Yarish Plastic Surgery, patients from the Houston and Lake Jackson, Texas areas can expect to receive a customized treatment plan meant to enhance facial features and optimize nasal function through rhinoplasty. We offer comprehension rejuvenation approach that can be designed to improve your overall experience, from pre-surgery to after care.

About The Rhinoplasty Surgery

Patients typically undergo rhinoplasty in an outpatient basis and will return home the day of the surgery. Depending on the extent of the necessary revisions, either local or general anesthesia is given. Local anesthetic numbs the area so that the patient is awake, but does not feel pain during surgery. General anesthesia puts the patient to sleep completely for the entire procedure. In most cases, incisions are made within the nostrils in order to perform the necessary work. Sometimes there will be a need to make cuts at the bottom of the nose in order to perform more extensive restructuring. To achieve the desired look, our doctors reshape the bone and cartilage within the nose.

Recovery From Rhinoplasty

Because a nose job is an invasive procedure, it’s important that patients take some time off for recovery. A nasal splint will be worn for approximately the first week after surgery. Bruising and swelling around the eye area is normal and usually dissipates within about three days. However, Houston and Lake Jackson patients should be aware that it can sometimes take up to two weeks for these effects to diminish completely. The nose itself will also be swollen, but this swelling should be minimal. The healing period of the nose is gradual and last for approximately six months. Upon complete healing, the final results will be revealed. Rhinoplasty candidates may be advised to avoid strenuous activities for at least three to six weeks following the procedure.

Rhinoplasty can make a dramatic difference in the lives of Houston and Lake Jackson patients who wish to make a change in their appearance or who are experiencing a medical issue involving the nose.

Treatment Plan

At Yarish Plastic Surgery, we believe that skin and body rejuvenation is an evolutionary process that does not begin and end solely with the surgery itself.

While we do know that surgery is the most dramatic and gratifying part of the rejuvenation process, our doctors can enhance and even maximize your surgery results with our “comprehensive rejuvenation concept”. This concept is essentially a treatment plan specifically designed for each procedure in order to prepare the skin and body for surgery and to aid the healing process following your surgery.

We do recognize that many people do not have the time or inclination to take advantage of the complete program, and we want to assure you that your surgical results will be the best attainable anywhere. However, if you are in a position to take advantage of the “comprehensive rejuvenation concept,” you will find the entire experience to be more relaxing, and you will know that you have treated yourself to the most unique and gratifying experience that plastic surgery has to offer. And you will know that you have availed yourself of the ultimate in skin and body rejuvenation.

In order to make this experience more convenient and affordable, we have created a combination of ultimate experience packages specifically tailored to enhance each procedure. Our doctors strongly recommend that you take advantage of this “comprehensive rejuvenation concept.” The program outlined for you will be instituted pre-operatively, and will be continued post-operatively until healing is complete.

Frequently Asked Questions Our Houston and Lake Jackson Patients Have About Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty is a big decision that takes careful consideration. Our goal is to do everything that we can to help you feel informed and educated on rhinoplasties. We created a list of some frequently asked questions for more information.

  • What Are The Different Types of Rhinoplasty?

There are three main kinds of rhinoplasty: open rhinoplasty, closed rhinoplasty, and tiplasty. In open rhinoplasty, a small incision is made just under the tip of your nose. With this kind of incision, Dr. Yarish can better reach inside your nose to sculpt it into a sleeker shape. A closed rhinoplasty isn’t as drastic, as incisions can be made inside the nose. This procedure is better for Houston and Lake Jackson patients who just need minor re-sculpting. Finally, in a tiplasty, the doctor reshapes only the tip of your nose.

  • Does A Rhinoplasty Have Any Risks for Patients?

Like all surgeries, rhinoplasty does have a few risks, but they generally minor and quite rare. As with all surgeries, infection can be a problem, but this largely depends on how well you care for your incisions after the surgery. Dr. Yarish will be with you every step of the way to ensure you safely get the results you desire.

  • Does a Rhinoplasty Cause Bruising and Swelling?

Following a rhinoplasty, your nose swells slightly. A plastic protector will be applied to your nose after the surgery to protect it from minor trauma and to keep swelling at bay. Nothing will be packed inside your nose unless your breathing/airway have been treated at the same time. After that, you might experience a small amount of pain around your head and nose, but pain medication will significantly reduce any discomfort. Most of Dr. Yarish’s patients take pain medicine for only a day or at most two days. Furthermore, swelling and bruising are usually minimal, if there is any bruising it can easily be covered with makeup in a few days.

  • What Should I Do To Prepare For A Rhinoplasty?

You will have a visit with Dr. Yarish’s nurse or assistant approximately two weeks prior to surgery. You will be reminded not to take medications that will thin your blood (asprin, advil, etc). You will also be given a full set of verbal and written instructions so you can go over the process with your caretaker.

  • Are The Results From A Rhinoplasty Immediate?

Right after the surgery, your nose will be slightly swollen, and you’ll have to wear a nasal splint. However, in 5-7 days, we remove the splint, and you’ll immediately notice your nose’s slimmer, straighter appearance. It is common for a small amount of swelling to occur following splint removal but it wont be noticeable to anyone but you.
