Houston and Lake Jackson
As we get older, our skin begins to lose elasticity, which can lead to sagging. This is a natural part of the aging process, but it can sometimes be worsened by obesity or other conditions. If you gain a great deal of weight and then lose it quickly, the skin on your stomach might be left drooping and sagging. Exercise, a healthy diet and time can tighten the stomach somewhat, but it’s possible that loose skin will never recover on its own. A tummy tuck at Yarish Plastic Surgery in Houston and Lake Jackson can help.
How Do Tummy Tucks Work?
The medical name for a tummy tuck is an abdominoplasty. The surgery involves removing excess fat and skin from the abdominal region and restoring separated or damaged muscles, which creates a flatter, smoother appearance.
There are two types of tummy tucks:
- Partial: A partial tummy tuck is sometimes called a mini abdominoplasty. This procedure is less involved and usually doesn’t require your belly button be relocated. For Houston and Lake Jackson men and women who require a lesser degree of correction, a partial tummy tuck may be an option.
- Complete: This is a full tummy tuck, which involves surgically opening your abdomen in the area between your hip bones and contouring, moving or repairing the skin and muscle structure. This is a more extensive procedure and may have a longer recovery time.
Who Should Consider a Tummy Tuck?
A tummy tuck is a suitable and relatively safe option for adult men and women who are in good health. However, there are certain people who might want to think carefully before they undergo the procedure. Women may want to consider whether they plan on getting pregnant in the future before considering this procedure, and Houston and Lake Jackson individuals who have tattoos on the stomach may also need to consider whether they are willing to have these altered in order to achieve their aesthetic goals. These and other factors will be discussed during your consultation.

At Yarish Plastic Surgery, we believe that skin and body rejuvenation is an evolutionary process that does not begin and end solely with the surgery itself.
While we do know that surgery is the most dramatic and gratifying part of the rejuvenation process, Dr. Yarish is also convinced that we can enhance and even maximize your surgery results with our “comprehensive rejuvenation concept”. This concept is essentially a treatment plan specifically designed for each procedure in order to prepare the skin and body for surgery and to aid the healing process following your surgery.
We do recognize that many Houston and Lake Jackson residents do not have the time or inclination to take advantage of the compete program, and we want to assure you that your surgical results will be the best attainable anywhere. However, if you are in a position to take advantage of the “comprehensive rejuvenation concept,” you will find the entire experience to be more relaxing, and you will know that you have treated yourself to the most unique and gratifying experience that plastic surgery has to offer. And you will know that you have availed yourself of the ultimate in skin and body rejuvenation.
In order to make this experience more convenient and affordable, we have created a combination of ultimate experience packages specifically tailored to enhance each procedure. Dr. Yarish strongly recommends that you take advantage of this “comprehensive rejuvenation concept.” The program outlined for you will be instituted pre-operatively, and will be continued post-operatively until healing is complete.
Get Rid of Your Flabby Belly with a Tummy Tuck in Houston and Lake Jackson
Considering a tummy tuck to get rid of that stubborn sagging skin? You probably have a lot of questions. Read through the following FAQs and corresponding answers, so you feel more prepared for your consultation with Dr. Yarish.
What is a tummy tuck?
A tummy tuck is a procedure performed to remove excess skin and stretch marks in the lower abdomen usually due to pregnancy or significant weight loss. The procedure also includes tightening the abdominal (Rectus) muscles that have been stretched and or separated for the same reasons. Since the procedure doesn’t go inside the abdomen, it is not considered a major surgery. Often a small (or even large) amount of liposuction is preformed at the same time in order to further sculpt the abdomen and importantly, to match the upper and lower body sizes.
Is a Tummy Tuck Painful?
Houston and Lake Jackson patients will probably experience some pain after tummy tuck surgery. However, it all depends on your pain tolerance. Many of our patients say they just have moderate pain, but others call it more severe. Either way, we will provide plenty of medication to help your recovery go more smoothly.
Will a Tummy Tuck Leave Scars?
Because Dr. Yarish makes several incisions, you will have some scars. However, he does everything he can to make them as invisible as possible. He makes every attempt to keep the incision below the bikini line. In fact, if there is a C-Section scar- Dr. Yarish will place his incision underneath the existing scar. This way the C-Section scar is cut away leaving just one scar. Most patients are able to wear a small two piece following the surgery.
How Do I Prepare for a Tummy Tuck?
You will be given a set of written instructions two weeks prior to your surgery as well as verbal instruction. Dr. Yarish’s nurse will also provide you with, vitamins, dressings, and a postoperative garment.
What Happens the Day of the Tummy Tuck?
Right before the procedure, we administer anesthesia, so you won’t feel pain or be awake for the surgery. Depending on the specific surgery you choose, the process can take between two and four hours. Afterward, we wrap your abdomen in dressings to keep everything clean and compressed. Some Houston and Lake Jackson patients require a drain tube to prevent fluids from building up inside their tummy. We discharge nearly all patients the same day so that they can rest in the comfort of their own home. Some patients, however, choose to stay in our overnight care facility adjacent to our surgery center. We can also provide nursing or medical assistant to in your home or in the hotel next to our building.
How Long Before I Can Go Back to Work?
You need plenty of time to rest and recover before jumping back into your normal life. It will be about a week before you can drive, but you should walk around before then to stay active. After a few days, you might feel well enough to take phone calls or answer emails, but you probably won’t be able to return to work for about two weeks, depending on the requirements of your job. If you have a job that allows you to work from home, you should be able to use a computer within a couple of days. Your recovery period all depends on the extent of your surgery (some patients have enough liposuction that their recovery is delayed), but most Houston and Lake Jackson patients feel completely recovered four to six weeks after the procedure. Excellent results are seen immediately, but it takes a good three months to see the capture experience.
How Long Does a Tummy Tuck Last?
The good news is that a tummy tuck lasts forever if you manage your weight successfully. You might experience a little sagging as you age, but your tummy will continue to be tighter and trimmer than it was before the procedure. Houston and Lake Jackson patients should keep in mind that becoming pregnant after a tummy tuck surgery might reverse some of the results. It has been Dr. Yarshi’s vast experience that only a small portion of the tummy tuck will be affected by further childbearing. With this being said, this is a procedure that is performed when pregnancy is no longer being considered.
